The giants Lady P referred to came from Manresa, mear Barcelona, I believe and were made by the same maker who made the Manchester Giants. Apart from the Sardana the other typical band of the region is a band of graillas played in much the same way as a Breton Bagad but I don't think they need to be played in relays like the Bombarde. I have one in G (now out on loan) which I understand is the usual pitch.

A load of us, including Lady P and Parker, Micca and LTS went over to a giant festival in Matadepera a few years back. There were over 600 giants from all over Europe and even a Japanese rice god that was hauled by dozens of impressed (as in press-ganged) children with a man standing on his shoulder to circumvent problems with overhead wires.
