Here's one comment from a poster about this subject:
"Need to remember that the Liberals, Bloc and NDP are all center to left parties. With only 128, the Tories would need to govern from the center to get any legislation passed. Over 140 or so they might be able to move further right by picking off a handful of right-leaning Liberals or Bloquists, but under 130? They'd need to make compromises. If they tried to push too far, the sword of no-confidence would always be hanging over their head. It would be a terrible misreading by the Tories were they to believe there is some mandate in their likely minority government win. The voters are chastising the Grits, but the moment Harper drops the moderate mask, the inroads in Ontario and Quebec would dry up and a strengthened LPC would likely be returned with a majority; or at the very least a working Liberal-NDP government".
