there was a discussiom on the "Mudcat Song" thread about the difficulty of using those characters which are not on your immediate keyboard, so I offered to post my solution. So here is some stuff copied & pasted from that thread."what I do is use a font viewing/editing/printing..etc. program which will show the numerical value of each character,then...on a PC..(not on a MAC) all you have to do is hold down the 'alt' key while typing numeric combination.. "
thus 'alt 0131' = ƒ, and 'alt 0223' = ß, and 'alt 0176' = °
somewhere in the Windows bowels is the 'character map' which has the complete list..(I have several font listing programs which find 'em for me)
I am using ICFont Lite...free(fancy version also available)(also MAC version!)
and The Font Thing (there are several more on that page and also on this page at "NoNags"
each is a little different...try 'em! If you need to use a LOT of different fonts, "The Font Thing" will allow you to show several fonts side by side for comparison.
