A couple of years ago some new people moved in next door to me. The lady of the house hung a bird feeder from the apple tree at the bottom of her garden. Soon after her neighbour spotted a rat in her garden and went totally apeshit!! The local pest controllers were called in and all hell broke loose.
Soon after that I overheard some of the local gossips expressing an opinion that it was my fault - presumably because my garden is untidi... more ecologically friendly than theirs.
A couple of days after the gossiping incident I glanced out of my kitchen window and saw a grey squirrel busily feeding at the bird feeder and scattering nuts, seeds etc. on the floor - where they were being consumed by a rat.
I made sure that I mentioned this to one of the gossips and then just sat back to watch the fun!
