I have the words and chords to this song in a book that was originally published in 1949, and it simply noted as an "Old Irish Song". Is it an Irish song? Is it from the music hall? Words are in the Digitrad, and has been mentioned in previous threads but doesn't seem to have had a thread of its own.

It's a fun song to sing and I would appreciate any information.
