It's a vulgar prestigious pleasure, and as such tends to be overrated & overpriced -- more so, IMO, than eating beef, less so than going to concerts. But if you ignore the prestige and concentrate on the vulgarity & the pleasure, it has a certain conspiratorial charm that can be consoling.
