Snow, you yahoos! Usually, it's been 3-4" and lasted a couple of days. I don't mind not shovelling or not driving in it or not worrying about the roof caving in, but I worry that the lack of snow cover will cause problems in the long run. For one thing, the amount of snow and the cold help determine how many mosquito eggs survive to hatch in spring, and there's probably other things that are either kept alive or killed by an insulating blanket of snow or a solid freeze. I know I'm having abandonment issues because the birds don't seem to come to my feeder anymore. I can hear them in the trees across the street, but apparently they don't need my seeds and they never visit me. They don't call, they don't write...
