I didn't know that poem but I knew the joke it was based on. Willie Thornton was the famous 'header' but I don't remember who the goalie was. The story was that after a famous victory when Willie headed in a few gaols, he met the goalie in the street and nodded to him and Jimmy's poem tells the punch line.
