It's been a merciful winter so far in Boston, too -- some snowstorms, but not heavy ones, and all followed by complete thaws. However, the winter of (I think it was) 1996-1997 was almost snowless, but climaxed, with exquisite appropriateness, with a blizzard on the night of 31 March -- 1 April. So, you never know.
