I've thought the same thing for years, Amos -- only I'd set the tax at 10%, with a floor equal to the national poverty level: i.e., if the national povery level is $10,000 and you made $100,000, you pay 10% of $90,000, or $9,000.

No matter who or what you are. And this tax is per person -- if you made $10,000 and your wife made $100,000, you would pay nothing and she'd pay $9,000.

But it's too simple to pass.
