FOOL'S BAR AND GRILLE

I was drivin' down the highway, not much on my mind
when out of the corner of my eye I saw a little home-made sign
I ain't been able to forget it, I don't think I ever will
it said "TURN RIGHT HERE - for the Fool's Bar And Grille."

I ain't had myself a drink, it's been quite a spell
I was dyin' a whole faster back then
life goin' straight to hell
but I thought the whole thing over
and I said I believe I will
stop in for just one at the Fool's Bar And Grille

Smoke and music hit me when I walked the door
there was a jukebox in the corner
and sawdust on the floor
a lot of smilin' faces on [??]
half empty glasses and totally empty eyes

so I pulled up a barstool and ordered myself a coke
couple of the customers laughed out loud
they thought it was a joke
I took one sip and I put it down
I purty much had my fill
of the the good life at the
Fool's Bar And Grille

paid the man behind the bar and I took one sip more
I took one last look around the bar
then I headed for the door
I said a prayer for the lonely people
who are probably sittin there still
if not for the grace of God I'd be sittin' there still
living and dyin, but mostly dyin'
right there at the Fool's Bar And Grille
