I suspect you are right Joe in that it is better to stick with standards and I suppose there is always the chance of some browser working to the standard and expecting the quotation marks.It beats me why they are part of the standard though as a browser would know what to expect between the equals sign and the closing angle bracket with out them and the text the other side of the closing bracket is not enlosed with quotes. Perhaps there is a reason that somebody like Mudguard can explain but it does seem inconsistent to me though I am not particularly fond of HTML anyway.
