The Golden Rule is that there are no Golden Rules.

The real problem is that audiences don't know that - and adverse comments loom greater than the quiet acceptance of your points of view.

If you have been singing publicly for long enough then the presentation will be half the battle. If not - remember that people react to the whole - not the pretty tune, the clever paronamasia etc. They also react to the meal they just had, so only time and a large enough sample will really tell you.
