Boilermakers aren't too common in Milwaukee, either - usually, it's "a beer and a bump" - but it IS a Boilermaker if you float your shotglass of brandy in the beer. The "bump" is usually brandy, but can be any kind of schnapps. When I lived in Wisconsin, I learned that Wisconsin consumed as much brandy as the rest of the United States combined.

And a cannibal sandwich is usually served on pumpernickel, with lots of onions and black pepper - and beer on the side, with or without the "bump."

Ah, it brings back good memories.
