It was collected by members of his group, not by "Ashcan" Ashram himself. This was part of the papers of Tobias Bowdotch, who actually did the work (the same one who was eaten by the natives of Nooki-Nooki while attempting to collect folksayings there). Bowdotch, as I'm sure you're aware, is a highly respected folksaying collector, even though he was a fawning syncophant, brownnoser, and a lickspittle bootlicker -- but back then you pretty much had to be, I guess.

Anyway, his Aacr work was found among his papers at the Bodlian in 1977 and the box hadn't been opened since his death. The work is in Bowdotch's handwriting and has been authenticated by scholars in Russia, Slobovia, Scotland, England, Ireland, Canada, the US, Mongolia, Japan, and China. Even France replied, "Well, oui, but he iz not, how do you say, French, so the work is meaninglezz."
