They were a respectable sporting dog at one point, the poor things. I like them best when they're just shaved all over. I, personally, would never own a dog that needed that much grooming, but I can think of other breeds I like much less.

I don't know many Standards, but the little ones are smart as whips and great dogs if you don't spoil them rotten.
