A friend of mine's beloved dog died last year and he wanted to commemorate her passing in some way, so I suggested erecting a sundial over the grave, which is on his property. Instead buying one, we built one. He hasn't carved a motto yet--I suggested "Life and love pass swiftly" but he doesn't know yet what he wants so he's holding off.

But the sundial is so lovely that I think I will do the same for my cat when he goes (although he's pretty young right now). Maybe I'll use that motto--then again maybe not.
