I am one of the most moderate people I know, Cluin. ;-) But I've always been a nonconformist. I didn't smoke dope (or cigarettes) in the 70's either, and everyone else I knew did, without exception. Plus, I had the longest hair of any guy I knew back then and was nuts about Bob Dylan. Put that together and try and figure it out...

I have always taken a sort of glee in choosing NOT to do what everyone else in my peer group takes for granted...but only because I genuinely didn't want to anyway. I have always been highly suspicious of popular trends.

I LOVED the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Used to read the whole thing through about every three years. I was rather well pleased with the 3 Peter Jackson movies of the saga. They could have been even better, but they also could have been a whole GIANT lot worse!!!!!! (and what a surprise that it didn't happen that way) I call that a good result.

His recent King Kong was very good too, although a bit overdone in places (no need for 3 T-Rex's when one would have done just fine, no need for the "insect pit" scene, no need for an over-the-top, unbelievable brachiosaurus stampede which no one could have survived). He got just a little carried away there. But the human side of the film put the original movie totally into the dust. The ape and Ms Darrow ought to get a shared Oscar for turning in such heartfelt performances.
