But I was astonished to see Edith Piaf as turning up as someone anyone might be embarrassed to admit liking. I suppose admitted to liking someone so French might be frowned on in some circles in the USA in these days of "freedom fries". In which case, no doubt, the same would apply to the incomparable Georges Brassens.
