Glad to hear that no one was killed and very few were injured. It will take a long time and plenty of money to repair the damage but that can be survived. I suggest they rebuild in concrete. It does a better job in high winds.

A friend has an idea for the Pacific islands. He wants to build concrete domes with large openings on the ground floor. In a typhoon the families can go up to the second floor and let the waters run through the ground floor. The dome can stand any amount of wind. They are built using an inflated form with concrete shot on from the inside.
