Happy Birthday!
Astride Briand, French statesman and diplomat,
was born March 28, 1862
(died 1932)
Briand was co-author of the Kellogg-Briand Pact of 1928, which outlawed war as an instrument of foreign policy.
Sixty-four countries signed the Pact, including all those that would make up the Axis Powers!
Last night I had the strangest dream,
I never dreamed before,
I dreamed the world had all agreed,
To put an end to war.
I dreamed I saw a mighty room,
The room was filled with men,
And the papers they were signing said,
They'd never fight again..."
