After Son My (My Lai 4), there was a command cover-up, up to (if I remember correctly) the level of the 11th Brigade commander, and the uncovering was done by an internal Army investigation . So far, there is no indication that anyone was involved in concealing the actual events significantly above the level of the Marines (not Army) involved.
