McGrath -

When I encounter something that I know is a .pdf, I usually right click the link and choose "Save Target As" and put the .pdf file in my "scratch" folder. When the .pdf is downloaded, a double-click on the file opens it directly in the Reader, so it doesn't matter if your browser can display it.

(If you hover your cursor over a link in IE, the address appears on the bottom bar, and usually ends with .pdf if it's an Acrobat file.)

Overall I find it much faster, and a file you don't want after you look is easily deleted.

I would assume you can do something similar in Netscape or any other browser?
