It's been a while since I've had anything that needed checking with FedEx, but it seems like they made me go to an "archive" to get anything more than about 10 days after delivery. Your present problem does look like the bad Reader was at least a willing partner in the conspiracy against you.

Sometime when the pressure's off a bit, I'd still suggest making another try at getting the real Adobe Reader. They keep adding "features" that sites I run into seem to be using. (Government sites are big offenders, so I suspect they get a discount.) I doubt the "alternative" programs are likely to keep up with some of the stuff. Being able to read and print a .pdf is one thing, but being able to fill in the blanks in a .pdf form and send it back is only a first step down the horrid path.
