Ballad (15)

I would not have my muse in tears,
Nor angry at the world:
I'd rather nibble on her ears,
Or hair, 'round fingers twirled.

What does my muse dream of, tonight,
When she closes her eyes?
What might she see, in dreams so bright,
That would my hopes realize?

I know she knows I care: But, dare
I ask that she give sign
That she might want me to love share,
And our dreams intertwine?

I have only my dreams, to see
How I might reach her heart.
Yet, visions cannot tell to me
How I might dreams impart.

Her smile reward enough for verse,
Yet heart wants so much more:
Should I hopes feed, or passions nurse,
And all my fears ignore?

She is one I wish only well,
With eyes that give me dream:
Would words could all my passions tell,
That I might hopes redeem.
