You are driving an older '68000 machine, and geting it to speed up very much is problematic; you would get some noticeable speed improvement if you moved to a cable modem (assuming you are somewhere that has the service) or a DSL line if that is available where you live; but you will still be bottlenecked to some degree by the machine itself -- its clock speed and bus rate.

If you have any way of doing so I would recommend getting yourself one of the new G3-based IMacs, from a knowledgeable provider, because they are so dramatically faster. I realize these are all tradeoffs, time against money and convenience, and that's true throughout the hightech universe because of the rate of change. But once you get that G3 grooved in you should be able to run merrily with it for years, unless Melinda decides to buy Bill the whole Internet for his birthday! :>)
