Sonnet 07/03/06                            MXLVIII

Bright moon, shine upon muse and show her all
That might her joy increase. Can you muse teach
To gift world with her smile? Yet, dare dream fall
Back to desire for one beyond all reach?
I do not hear her, now, nor can I feel
Her thoughts, or dreams: How can I think to know
Her heart's desire, when silence from nights steal
All hopes from soul, that no future might grow?
I wait, for muse or sleep, but neither find,
And night brings heart no dream nor rest. How long
Must hope be beyond reach? Must I be blind
To all that muse does not share in her song?
I thank my muse for all that she has shared:
Yet, must I think it best if I'd not cared?
