It actually is not a bad addition to my old mainstay - the peanut butter and dill pickle sandwich. My preference, however, was always for "just enough" anchovy to enhance the PB&P without overpowering it. Sort of like the way *one adds a couple of (oil pack) sardines to a stack of pancakes to make the syrup slide down.
* I've been told not everyone does this. I don't understand why.
