Can heart find rest after hearing its muse,
While knowing she is gone? Can dream return,
Without her words? Does hope for smile excuse
Not taking chance to her desires learn?
Are echoes now enough to ease the pain
That losing muse has left? She was the light
To give dreams life: How can heart hope to gain
Vision to hold to soul, and sorrows fight?
Will there be chance to longings for her hold,
Or must desires remain ever ignored?
Is there no hope that words have feelings told,
And no future where past might be restored?
All future heart might feel, and those dreams see,
Will not replace that hope she once gave me.
