In time, tears will not form when I recall
Our conversations, and your words. You gave
Far more than I had earned: Could I not fall
For one whose inspiration still dreams save?
I cannot regret my concern: I hold
Your smile as precious. Still, perhaps I sought
Beyond hope's bound. I have only heart told:
I just return the love that you have taught.
Yet, should desire to hold you in my arms
Be such a crime, that dreams and hope must die?
What part of loving muse is it that harms
One I wish only well? Can hope not try?
I will not ask for more than that you tell
If you are loved, and all still remains well.
