I drive a 2001 Ford Explorer. I had a Geo Metro for the longest time but after a few trips walking up the mountain during a snow storm because I couldn't get home and after the death of a co-worker driving the same kind of car in a minor accident (something that should NOT have resulted in death if the car had provided ANY kind of protection), I now have the 4x4 beast. It IS a gas hog but the safety issue on bad roads is worth it to me....besides, I am eyeing a scooter for nice weather use...they top out at 65 miles per hour and 90 miles to the gallon.....WOOOO HOOOO...I wave to my scooter (got it all picked out) every time I drive by the dealer.
