The monthly ceilidh season continues at Hitchin Town Hall on Friday 28th April with The Bismarcks - three English musicians playing an eclectic mixture of traditional tunes, in distinctive rhythmic style, on three instruments: Ed Rennie on melodeon, Nina Hansell on fiddle and Gareth Kiddier on piano.

Having performed at ceilidhs, clubs and festivals for ten years, The Bismarcks have worked with some of the best callers in the country. Small but perfectly formed, the band's sound is somehow greater than the sum of its parts. At times there's an almost mechanical, unstoppable energy to their playing. The Bismarck Herrings, or just "The Bismarcks" to their friends, are a stomping little trio who play the very best traditional English tunes in an inimitably bouncy fashion.

This dance is part of the band's farewell tour – after ten years they've decided to call it a day, so it will be your last chance to see them in this area!

Our interval entertainment (to give you a breather and a chance to buy a pint or two from the Real Ale bar) are The Weston Appalachian Group – performing some of the intricate and energetic dance styles from the Eastern mountains of the United States.
