Thread Name: Lyr Req/Add: My Father's House (Kevin Sheeran)
Subject: Lyr Add: MY FATHER'S HOUSE (P J Murrihy)
A darlin' tune.

MY FATHER'S HOUSE

1.The gabled wall, is all that's left now,
The old thatch cottage, is almost gone.
I dry my eyes, as I sadly remember
The days of long ago, when I was young.

(Chorus):
In My Father's House we were poor, but rich in love,
No TV, but music, we had plenty of.
My mama hummed those melodies, and we all sang along,
In My Father's House, when I was young.

2.Come the time, when I am older,
And my own children, are rear'd and gone,
I wonder then, will they fondly remember,
The days of long ago, when they were young.

(2nd Chorus):
In My Father's House, a smile would greet you at the door,
A friendly word, even travellers, there was welcome for.
And at night-time neighbours rambled in, and might stay till 12 or 1,
In My Father's House, when I was young.

3.Years have passed, times are changing,
The rambling house, is almost gone.
But still I hear, the laughter of children,
Just like long ago, when I was young.

(3rd chorus):
In My Father's House, we were poor, but rich in love,
No TV, but good times, there was plenty of.
We made the best of what we had, and we sang a happy song,
In My Father's House, when I was young,
In My Father's House, where I was born.
