On the new CD, "A Treasury of Library of Congress Field Recordings," edited by Stephen Wade and issued on Rounder (Rounder CD 1500), there's a cut recorded by John A. Lomax in Parchman, Mississippi, of Charlie Butler singing "Diamond Joe." This version of Diamond Joe does not correspond to EITHER of the two versions in the DT database. I have been trying to transcribe the lyrics, but I'm finding it difficult to decipher Butler's thick dialect/accent. Does anyone know if a transcription of the lyrics exists? and/or Can anyone figure out all the words? Thanks for any efforts any Mudcatters may put into answering this.
