Becca - My brother faces the same problem. He tried to visit by ferry and when they found out at Canada customs that he had an old drunk driving conviction, they turned the boat around and took him back to the States. He was not fined.

Who fined your friend? If it was Canada, on what grounds did they fine him? Did he commit the crime in Canada? Did they send him to Syria to be tortured?

I did read the article and I ask again, "What part of Canada's immigration policy do you have a problem with?"
