The results are clear - about as many people are bothered by alternating colors as are helped. But everyone seems to like a contrasting strip on the edges.

Another result - handrails are essential. I knew that already.

We do have an architect, but given her hourly rate, it's good to go in for a talk with information and opinions at hand.
