The Manhaden Fisheries had a living/working singing tradition up until the 60's. I believe the Northern Neck Chantey Singers & the Manhanden Shanteymen both still have CD's available of the singing as they did when they fished off the Carolina coasts & I believe both groups of fishermen are still performing.
There's also songs from the prison work farms but I believe you said that was not one of your interests.
