Katlaughing,

A couple of days ago you started a thread on the need desirability of having a registration process. Many interesting points were made. I don't want to go into that again, anyone can read the relevant thread if they wish to argue that further.

However, I would point out something that you posted: "Right now, newbies who come here must really wonder. This is not the Mudcat of even a few months ago."

If I was a newbie, having been recommended the site as a good place to discuss folk and blues music I would indeed wonder when I found a personal eulogy to a dog.

Be honest, how many people here really want to know how much you love your dog?

Had you titled your post as 'BS: Why I love my dog' or something similar, it would perhaps have been a slight improvement. To any newbie, a thread entitled 'thought for the day' may well be an early stopping point.

I don't condone those contributors who have been openly mean and hostile to you, but I feel that you are almost encouraging it by posting this type of message.

Do you honestly think that the mudcat is the best place on the 'net to discuss favourite canine?

If you do, I hardly think that you are in a position to moan about the decline of the mudcat.
