For the record: Among the things I value the Mudcat for is when I post asking for information about a performing group that is in line to be in the local area. The response is immediate, informative and to the point.

In the past year I have also posted asking for infomration on starting a folk club. Again, the response was informative, encouraging and to the point.

The Mudcat is like the Internet itself. When I'm doing research, I can find quotes, pertinet books and speeches, addresses, in hours - sometimes minutes - that would take me days at the library. Just so the Mudcat- I would be able to find information on performing groups and on starting folk clubs but the Mudcat is fresh information, loaded with personal experience and fast.

This facet of Mudcattism is distinct from the buzzing of conversation and subject topics and people I love to hear from.
