I have the same problem occasionally. The lead from my monitor to my PC is sealed at the monitor end, and therefore cannot be changed. There is a bad connection somewhere in it so that if the cable is moved, the screen goes pink. Fiddle with it and the colours are restored. It is not serious enough for me to change the monitor, but it is a pain if I have to move the base unit for some reason.
