First met little John at Rick Fielding's flat on Admiral St in Toronto back in 68.John and his lady had a room in the same building. With leader Ralph Thornbury (O'Brian), John and Rick were the Irish pub band calling themselves "The Sons Of Erin". This was the group Rick jokingly referred to as "The Sons Of Urine" Within a year, John had moved to NFLD and I didnt see him again until 1971 when he came back to Toronto to record an album, on which I played guitar and banjo. Sadly I never saw him again, but did manage to touch base with him before he died, (right here on Mudcat.) My first impressions were of a Gentle man with a big Scotish baritone voice. It was also the first time I ever heard the songs,Ramblin' Boy and Wild Mnt. Thyme, of which he sang with much depth and emotion. Along with all the others, who haved moved on, I still think of him fondly and am glad to see his memory alive and well here on Mudcat. Cheers Glen
