Huh? That looks to me like written with no knowledge at all to back up the statement.

In the four years of WW1, there have been less than 10 death sentences for desertion been given in the German army. During WWII, there have been about 30,000 death sentences for desertion been given and executed (for comparison: British army during WWII dealt out 40 death sentences, mostly for murder, and none of them for desertion). The Nazi propaganda slogan was: 'He who fights may die, he who deserts will die.' The German WWII deserters (obviously only the successful ones, for the other ones have been hanged) have fought for a long time after the war for rehabilitation and for their sentences being revoked. The number of desertions in the WWII German army was extremely high in historic comparison.
