When my daughter was 3 1/2 her brother was born, and he was hospitalized for two weeks (pneumothorax due to premature lungs. He's fine now). On our first night at home while he was in the hospital, she trotted into our bedroom and gave each of us one of her stuffed toys to sleep with "because you couldn't bring the baby home."

Daughters are indeed wonderful things! (Mine just graduated from high school last Wednesday)
