I agree with you - but the bulk of 'council treated and supplied' 'water for drinking' is used to flush toilets, wash cars and water gardens, etc, so it is gradually polluting the environment, getting back into the sea, etc.

The only saving grace is that mankind will have topped himself long before that sort of pollution becomes a serious threat to all life...
