The important thing is that it can't be killed off. I used to worry that live theatre was dying, and then I realized that it would die when the human race died off (which of course may be in the cards). We are just wired somewhere for the magic of theatre. So I relaxed. We are also wired for listening to, and making, live music. The rest is just parasitical on that experience. The comfort is that it is like the sunrise: the oldest thing there is, new every morning. There may be no money in it: but it is tapping into the original strength of things, so it reinvigorates.
