Thread Name: DT lyrics without tunes (A)
Subject: RE: DT lyrics without tunes (A)
Wolfgang, thank you for starting this thread. At various times I have taken the DT data and sorted it using Excel to highlight songs without tunes and also to display them alongside songs of the same(ish) name which have a tune. I have provided this to a couple of people (includibg Alison who worked her way through from A and has submitted hundreds of them) and would gladly do the same again. I couls of course ask Alan or Max or Joe to put it up somewhere as a text or spreadsheet file at Mudcat if anyone thought this may be of value.

As MMario points out a portion of the A's (For example) have already been posted to the Forum, and it would probably make sense to compile a list of these. In my own case I have posted somewhere around 280 tunes (I think) but I don't have a comprehensive list. When I do a Super Search for some of the red text in Alan's Miditext program the authorship of the postings are in many cases are attributed to "n/a". This isn't very helpful in back-tracking, so I'm at a bit of a standstill. Joe has also contributed scads of tunes but I suspect that he is much more organised than I am in terms of record keeping. In any event, thanks to Alan's program we have probably submitted 700 odd tunes in the last 18 months and a list of these is needed.

Re Bruce O's posting. I need your clarification here please. Is there anyway that I/we can assist in getting your huge collection of abc's associated with the relevant songs from the DT, assuming that this is your wish?

MMario, your generous offer is noted. How many hundred .bmp's can I mail to you? **BG** It's still a little early to get too excited about this but I've been working away in background mode to see if we could co-opt more Mudcat volunteers to notate some tunes using SharpEye scanning/notation program. Putting it simply if we were to create an inbox of suitable quality .bmp's then a wider variety of volunteers MAY be coerced to do the notation and post the tunbes to MUDI. I need a bit more time on this but would be happy to discuss via johninbrisbane@hotbot.com
