999 is the number of the beast in Australia

Well, I broke my ankle in 1999. Does that count?

I've been able to avoid evangelists and televangelists for some time, fortunately - ever since I saw the last of my fundamentalist uncle who was also a very nasty piece of work. A few years ago, I heard he had joined a cult that believed they were going to heaven on the 29th August of whatever year it was. They apparently had their suitcases packed and everything. I did wonder though if you are allowed to take suitcases to heaven :-) He died a few years later in the usual conventional way.

A couple of kids I know mentioned the date thing yesterday. Apparently it's been talked about at school, but they didn't look particularly worried.

I used to have a little plush red devil with horns that I got one Valentines Day, but I dunno where he is. I guess the plush yello, green and purple Y2K bug that sits on my monitor will have to do, as a symbol of the stupidity of these ideas. He is kinda cute, tho.
