The REAL route 666- Britain's A666- runs from Irlam's o'th' Height (Salford) to Blackburn via Bolton, passing through the heartland of Lancashire's dark Satanic mills. It was truly the route of the Rapture on a summer's day in the holidays, because it was also the way the X60 bus to Blackpool went, and we would crowd round the bus stop by the Brittania, waiting for a bus with enough spare space to take us on the hour-and-a-half ride to the seaside.
