Thread Name: threads that dissappear off the bottom
Subject: RE: threads that dissappear off the bottom
If the thread has recently dropped out of view, the simplest is just to set the next longer period in the "Refresh" box at the top of the Threads page. The default is "Age: 1 day."

A problem with just refreshing for a longer period is that the thread you're sure you looked at two or three days ago was probably actually a month or more back, and the list of all the threads gets very long when you go back very far.

If you remember a word from the thread title, putting it in the Filter box will significantly shorten the list of threads that will come back. This makes it more convenient to go back further, but get only threads with the filter word(s) in the title.

If you don't find the thread by putting the word you remember in the filter and going back a little further, it's quite often because the word you remember isn't really the word that was used, or it was spelled differently. If you can find another post you've made using the identical name as one you used in the thread, clicking on your name at any post you've made, where it says:

Subject: Thread Title
From: Guest,Jim - PM
Date:

should return the most recent 200 posts by 1"Guest,Jim." You can also use the name of anyone else who posted in the thread you're looking for, if you can find a more recent post by that person. This is handy when you think of a better answer to someone, but can't remember what thread the question was in, although usually if the thread has "gone off the bottom" nobody will care if it's just clever, but it might be worthwhile if it's something useful that just required some research.

1 You've been quite consistent with using "Guest,Jim" with 540 posts returned. Note that the chronological order in the listing of posts is not necessarily in order, and this listing doesn't have a "printer friendly" button you can use to sort them; but recent posts should be listed correctly. Some of your posts back in "00" are in mixed order.
