Price depends on space available and sponsored ads appearing or not. It's difficult to pronounce a site as a "rip off" or not unless you know how much space was involved, how many discrete pages, etc.

For posting images alone there are a lot of free places like Yahoo and Flickr. Surely your Internet provider offers some sort of web publishing deal--you don't go online via the Angelfire folks, do you? How do you connect to the Internet now? See what you can do with the materials at your fingertips. My IP folks are Earthlink, and the space is growing all of the time. You can have up to 8 email addresses and you can have I think 100meg of web space PER email address. I'd set up a couple of dummy addresses just to use the space, if I were you and had this service.
